Total cases of chikungunya this year is 183

PAPAR: The number of accumulated cases of chikungunya in Sabah this year is 183 but no deaths have been reported so far.

The figure has increased from last year which recorded 75 cases. There were also no deaths reported that time.

Deputy Health Minister Datuk Rosnah Abdul Rashid Shirlin said yesterday two locations in Telupid namely Kampung Gambaron 2 and Kampung Kopuron are being monitored.

She said nationwide, there are 774 accumulated cases which has dropped sixty nine per cent as compared with last year that recorded 3,153 cases.

There are no deaths reported.

In the meantime, she said health education programme on the disease is still being carried out with special attention on areas that record a high number of cases.
